In order to check their practical sailing skills, our students perform an unaided passage at the end of the course. The instructor becomes a passenger, and candidates assume full responsibility for every aspect of sailing — starting from checking weather forecasts, passage planning and boat preparation. We turn off chart plotters and rely solely on paper maps and a compass. The wind always introduces adjustments to the general course – the route is extended by an indefinite number of legs. Each time we are happy to witness the miracle of finding a firm ground among the intricate elements of water and air.
