Yacht Master or Yachtsman of the highest category / qualification
Permission: Distance from Shelter – Unlimited
At this level, your ability to operate the boat goes from pilot to dispatcher.
Requirements prior to training:
At least 60 days at sea as Captain or Chief of Watch, on at least 5 cruises and in at least 3 different waters.
Crossing in tidal waters (in at least one region), at least two crossings of more than 100 nautical miles as captain.
Who conducts the training:
ISSA Instructor with MY certification.
Who conducts the examination:
ISSA Examiner.
Required certifications prior to training:
SRC, first aid, sea survival certification.
Number of instructional hours:
40 hours - training includes preparation for exams.
Minimum age:
18 years.
Exam:
6 hours, including 2 hours at night. Maximum - 3 candidates at a time.
